Welcome to Bolga Baskets

Our baskets are made by our women’s group in the Northern Region of Ghana. Our women cooperatives are an association of women from 5 communities in the three Northern regions of Ghana. Every basket we sell helps to improve the living conditions of these women in Ghana. Basket weaving is a traditional skill of these women developed over many years. The areas where the women live are not futile enough for agricultural activities all year round due to the uncertain rainfall patterns. For these reason, the women group undertake basket weaving to supplement their income during downtimes in agricultural activities.

These baskets are hand woven and express the artistic nature of these women.
